Experience the Old and New World in Music

A Wanger | Williams Music Salon and Wine Tasting event sponsored by the Stanford Club of Chicago at Eric Wanger's home in Lincoln Park.

Sunday, May 22, 4-6pm
Music Salon led by Eric and Nora, 5-6pm
Wine tasting led by Timothy Gorton, 4pm-5pm

Cost for this event is $32 for music only/no wine
Cost to include wine tasting is $50

Our program features works by French composer Jacque Ibert, Hungarian composer and violinist, Joseph Joachim, and Russian-Jewish composer Leyb Yampolsky and American composers: Bill Evans, Chick Corea, and Eric Wanger.

Musicians: Eric Wanger, piano, Nora Williams, viola, and Aldo Mazzotti, percussion.

The wine tasting will feature old world wines from France with comparable new world wines from California and Oregon. We will compare a red burgundy to a Willamette Valley pinot noir, a white burgundy to a Sonoma chardonnay, and a bordeaux to a Napa Valley cabernet. Comparisons of aroma and taste will help us recognize the qualities of vine vs. winemaker, oak vs. minerals, and fruit vs. complexity. While still lingering with the sensual delights of the wines, we will settle in for live music from the old and new world.
